Enjoy the time you have got, even fixed the current error, new one will arise later. 😀 https://t.me/EvolutionaryGenomics

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you’re, by definition, not smart enough to debug it. - Brian Kernighan

Do you know Amu Darya Shovelnose Sturgeons were survived from catastrophe climate during the last glacial maximum… but anthropogenic activities are driving them to be the victim of sixth mass extinction. Help to raise public awareness by watching and sharing this video! https://youtu.be/XRxn0Q-7nZY?si=U-9ziP2QiAfYtowO https://t.me/EvolutionaryGenomics

Sturgeons have survived for 162 million years, enduring countless challenges—until humans pushed them to the brink of extinction. Once thriving in both fresh and saltwater habitats, these ancient fish are crucial to the health of our ecosystems, yet their populations have plummeted by 94% since 1970. Today, all 26 species of sturgeon are listed as vulnerable, endangered, critically endangered, or extinct in the wild. In Kazakhstan, the Syr Darya sturgeon may already be extinct—no one has seen one since the 1960s, after a series of Soviet dams was built throughout the Syr Darya River system. But Bernie Kuhajda (slide 3, at right), an aquatic conservation biologist, continues his search, holding on to the hope of a recovery. Breeding programs like the one at the Oneida Fish Cultural Station in New York (slide 1) are helping to rejuvenate sturgeon populations. Fingerlings, four-to-six inches long, grow in hatchery tanks for months before being released back into the wild. In Idaho's Snake River (slide 2), state fishery officials tag an eight-foot white sturgeon. To learn more about the fight to protect these ancient fish, visit: https://on.natgeo.com/4jdt3MR

🧬 Gomozigotalikning uzluksiz ketma-ketligi (ROH) nima? Gomozigotalikning uzluksiz ketma-ketligi (runs of homozygosity - ROH) bu — organizm genomida ota va onadan bir xil allellar (ya'ni gen nusxalari) olingan va uzluksiz ravishda bir-biriga yaqin joylashgan DNK segmentlaridir. Ya'ni, agar biror organizmda genomning biror qismini ko‘rsak va u yerda har bir pozitsiyada ikkala allel ham bir xil bo‘lsa (masalan, AA, CC, GG, TT) va bu holat uzluksiz davom etsa, bu qism ROH deb ataladi. 🧪 ROH nima uchun muhim? Inbreeding (yaqin qarindoshlar o‘rtasida juftlashish) natijasida genomda ROH ko‘payadi. Chunki ota va ona o‘rtasidagi genetik o‘xshashlik katta bo‘lsa, bolada bir xil allellar bir joyga to‘planib qoladi. Populyatsiya genetikasida ROH orqali: * inbreeding darajasini aniqlash, * tarixiy bottleneck (populyatsiya kamayish) holatlarini o‘rganish, * seleksiya bosimi mavjud yoki yo‘qligini tushunish mumkin. Kasalliklarni aniqlashda: Ba'zi genetik kasalliklar aynan ROH hududlarida joylashgan bo‘ladi. 🧭 ROHning uzunligi nimani bildiradi? Qisqa ROHlar (masalan, 1–2 Mb): uzoq o‘tmishda bo‘lgan qarindoshlik aloqalaridan dalolat beradi. Uzun ROHlar (10 Mb va undan ko‘p): yaqinda bo‘lgan inbreeding (masalan, amakivachcha bilan turmush) natijasida paydo bo‘lgan bo‘lishi mumkin. 🔬 ROHni qanday aniqlashadi? ROH odatda SNP genotiplash ma’lumotlari yordamida aniqlanadi (masalan, PLINK dasturida). Genomdagi har bir SNP (polimorfizm nuqtasi) tahlil qilinadi va homozygot bo‘lgan hududlar uzluksiz bo‘lsa, ROH deb belgilanadi. https://t.me/EvolutionaryGenomics
