Ahead of the talks, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping offered an official welcome ceremony to President of Russia Vladimir Putin, during which the two Leaders introduced their delegations. Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping held a conversation at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, followed by expanded Russian-Chinese consultations. They covered a range of bilateral cooperation topics and exchanged perspectives on current international and regional issues. 8️⃣0️⃣ лет назад – 12 мая 1944 года – Красная армия полностью освободила Крым от немецко-фашистских захватчиков в ходе Крымской наступательной операции. В планах нацистов полуостров должен был быть преобразован в немецкую колонию «Готенланд». На эти земли, славящиеся своим климатом, должны были заселиться немцы, а большая часть местного населения подлежала... уничтожению. Этим бесчеловечным планам сбыться не позволили. К осени 1943 года Красная армия блокировала 17-ю немецкую армию, в составе которой насчитывалось 200 тысяч человек. Удерживая Крым, противник создавал угрозу советским войскам в тылу на правом берегу полуострова. ⚔️ Весной 1944 года для врага наступил час расплаты за разрушенные Севастополь и Керчь, за сотни тысяч убитых советских воинов и мирных жителей. С целью освобождения Крыма от захватчиков в период с 8 апреля по 12 мая 1944 года была проведена наступательная операция. Её возглавлял маршал Советского Союза Александр Михайлович Василевский. В апреле усилиями Красной армии были освобождены Джанкой, Керчь, Евпатория, Симферополь, Феодосия, Бахчисарай, Алушта и Ялта, а 9 мая – Севастополь. Из воспоминаний маршала Александра Михайловича Василевского: «Крымская наступательная операция советских войск закончилась 12 мая 1944 года сокрушительным разгромом 200‑тысячной 17‑й немецкой армии. Вся её боевая техника и припасы оказались в руках советских войск. 250 дней осаждали немецко‑румынские войска Севастополь в 1941–1942 годах. Нам же потребовалось лишь 35 дней, чтобы взломать мощные укрепления врага в Крыму; из них ушло только три дня, чтобы сокрушить куда более сильно развитую, чем у нас в 1942 году, долговременную оборону под Севастополем и освободить главную базу Черноморского флота». 🎖 За героизм и умелые действия 160 соединениям и частям были присвоены почётные наименования. 56 соединений, частей и кораблей награждены орденами. 238 воинов удостоены звания Героя Советского Союза, тысячи участников боёв за Крым награждены орденами и медалями. #МыПомним

🗓 On May 11, 1939, Soviet Union and Mongolia fended off militarist Japan invasion, securing victory at the Khalkhin Gol River. In 1936, the Japanese government adopted the Fundamental Principles of National Policy, which outlined plans for the full conquest of China and subsequent military offensives into Mongolia and the Soviet Union. To execute its expansionist strategies, Japan sought support from Nazi Germany, solidifying their alliance with the signing of the Anti-Comintern Pact on November 25, 1936. 🤝 Considering the possibility of a Japanese attack on the Mongolian People’s Republic and the use of its territory as a launching pad for aggression against the USSR, the Soviet and Mongolian governments signed a Protocol of Mutual Assistance on March 12, 1936. On July 7, 1937, Japan initiated a full-scale war against China. This further complicated the relations between Moscow and Tokyo, leading to heightened tensions, which boiled over in 1938 into an armed conflict along the Soviet-Manchurian border near Lake Khasan. ⚔️ The Khalkhin Gol River conflict erupted when Japanese troops entered the area and opened fire at the Mongolian border guards. The Red Army swiftly intervened to support their Mongolian allies. Japan’s invasion of Mongolia was also driven by a desire for retaliation following the unsuccessful confrontation at Lake Khasan. It was also a strategy to compel the Soviet Union to withdraw support for China. 📄 In collaboration with the Mongolian forces, the Red Army successfully repelled the Japanese invasion and by late August, expelled them from Mongolian territory. On September 16, an agreement was reached between the Soviet Union, the Mongolian People’s Republic, and Japan to cease hostilities. ❗️ The victory of the USSR and their Mongolian allies carried a long-term influence on the dynamics of World War II. The Red Army’s triumph at Khalkhin Gol compelled the Japanese to abandon their plans for a major assault on the USSR. #KhalkhinGol85
