🎙 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's interview to the newspaper "Arguments and Facts" (October 21, 2024) Key Points: #BRICS • BRICS epitomises the shifts that have long been underway in the global economy. New centres of economic growth are emerging, and alongside them comes financial influence, which in turn brings political influence. • BRICS is a consortium where no single nation leads or is led, devoid of the bureaucratic machinery akin to that observed in Brussels, where EU officials impose decisions that contravene the will and interests of several member states, failing to align with the aspirations of voters across many countries. • BRICS does not stand in opposition to any entity, nor does it orchestrate operations or initiate projects. BRICS is committed to enhancing the combined potential of its nations and devising collaborative strategies for harnessing these potentials for mutual benefit. • What makes BRICS and other World Majority or Global East associations that do not include Western countries stand out, is that they are not created for the purpose of struggling or fighting with anyone. They are established to collectively benefit from their competitive advantages such as geographical location, shared history, cultural and humanitarian proximity <...>. #USA • The US is unwilling to relinquish the reins of power that they have held since World War II through the Bretton Woods institutions and through the role assigned to the US dollar in the international monetary system, even after free exchange of US dollars for gold had been cancelled. • The key goal of the US ruling class is to make sure no one can undermine their dominance. This goal is illusory. The historical process is objectively heading in a different direction, and this has to be reckoned with. • We are ready to interact with any administration voted in by the American people, but only if such a dialogue is mutually respectful, and both parties listen and hear what the other party has to say. #Ukraine • On multiple occasions, European leaders from Brussels have repeatedly made it clear that they must support Ukraine for as long as it takes, because Ukraine is fighting for the European values. • It turns out that European leaders are still willing to uphold Nazi values, which is why denazification is not just a motto, but an objective of utmost importance. #UN • The United Nations is not a valiant knight expected to “charge in and extinguish the fire” upon witnessing injustice. The UN is an assembly of its member states, each with established rules, including the Security Council's veto rights. The United States has effectively exercised this right five times over the past year, blocking a resolution proposed by several countries, including Russia, demanding an immediate ceasefire. <...> Presently, the United States is taking every measure to avoid antagonising Israel. • Nations such as India, Brazil, and African representatives should have long held permanent seats on the Security Council. This is essential to ensure representation of the World Majority. #Finland#Sweden#NATO • The zeal that the Finns and Swedes are showing in NATO, advocating for defeating Russia, is not only rooted in their historical instincts. They are also eager to show their Big Brothers in the North Atlantic Alliance that they have brought added value <...>. • I am confident that reasonable people in Europe, who have learned the lessons taught by history, see this too, including in Finland and Sweden. #Europe • To reiterate, the so-called right-wing conservatives are loyal to their countries and their people. We will engage with anyone who approaches us with a proposal to talk, to seek common ground, and to think about how we can jointly make the lives of our citizens better. #EurasianSecurity • We suggest discussing the Eurasian continent-wide security architecture, emphasising the fact that its doors will be open to everyone, including countries from the West of the Eurasian continent. 🚨 While the world watched Venezuela, Burkina Faso stopped a coup in real time. 🔥 Last night, as global media obsessed over the US operation in Venezuela, an attempted coup against President Ibrahim Traoré was reportedly thwarted in Burkina Faso. Many in the region openly point to French interests and local “pro‑Paris” networks as the political ecosystem that benefits when Traoré falls, framing this as yet another chapter in France’s long shadow over its former colonies. ⚡ The alleged mastermind—a former associate of ex-President Damiba—has been arrested, and stability has been restored. Crowds reportedly mobilized overnight to defend the presidency revealing deep memories of Thomas Sankara's fate and a determination to prevent history from repeating itself. #BurkinaFaso#IbrahimTraore#France#GlobalSouth Source: CBS news

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks following the SCO Foreign Ministers Council Meeting (Tianjin, July 15, 2025) Key talking points: 💬 The meeting of the #SCO Council of Foreign Ministers has just concluded in the city of Tianjin. This marked the culminating stage of preparations for the upcoming SCO Summit, which will likewise be held here in Tianjin in late August — early September of this year. All participants unanimously acknowledged the business-like, focusednature of our efforts. In this context, we attach particular significance to this morning’s meeting with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, who shared his assessments of joint efforts under China’s chairmanship and his vision of the key tasks for the progressive development of our Organisation. 🌐 The discussion confirmed a shared understanding of the growing importance of the SCO’s collective potential in both regional and global affairs. <...> The prevailing trend towards further consolidation of the SCO and the enhancement of its role on the international stage is encouraging. We affirmed that our common approach of strengthening the SCO as oneof the central pillars of a more equitable, #MultipolarWorld order remains unchanged. <...> Considerable number of nations are seeking to join the SCO’s work. The geographical scope of our structure spans a significant portion of the Eurasian continent. We noted that cooperation within our Organisation objectively contributes to the creation of an architecture of equal and indivisible security across Eurasia. <...> We expressed support for further expanding the SCO’s engagement with external actors. A new step in this direction will be the upcoming high-level meetings in the #SCO format at the Tianjin Summit — the first of their kind. We anticipate the participation of representatives from approximately 30 states and multilateral organisations in this event. This underscores the SCO’s growing constructive agenda and its appeal to nations of the #GlobalSouth and the #WorldMajority. We provided our colleagues with detailed assessments of the latest developments in Ukraine and reaffirmed our well-known approaches to resolving the crisis, repeatedly articulated by President of Russia Vladimir Putin. In turn, our partners demonstrated an understanding of these positions. Once again, we emphasised the necessity of addressing the root causes of the conflict, recognising the existing territorial realities <...>. Regarding the developments in the #MiddleEast, it was noted that sustainable stabilisation in the region is impossible without a just and comprehensive resolution of the Palestinian–Israeli conflict. These strategic guidelines, building on the accumulated experience of the ongoing upgrading, will be enshrined in the SCO Development Strategy through 2035. 👉 The resolutions adopted by Leaders on the aforementioned matters will establish a foundation for effective preparations in advance of the Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government, scheduled for November 17–18, 2025, in Moscow under Russia’s chairmanship. 🇮🇳India’s AI Governance Guidelines: A Pro-Innovation Model with Global Implications India has released its AI Governance Guidelines, structured around seven “sutras” — from Trust is the foundation to Safety, resilience & sustainability. Particularly striking is the principle “innovation over restraint”, affirming that “responsible innovation should be prioritised over cautionary restraint.” This sets India apart from the EU’s more precautionary stance, aligning instead with Washington’s “pro-innovation” logic. Equally notable is “understandable by design,” which directly engages with the global challenge of AI transparency — a topic the EU is only now tackling through its new code of practice for generative AI. The framework’s six pillars: infrastructure, capacity building, policy & regulation, risk mitigation, accountability, and institutions reveal a pragmatic and adaptive approach. India’s delayed entry into AI governance seems deliberate: it allowed observation of the global AI policy race before crafting a coherent, context-specific model. Rather than imposing a comprehensive AI Act, India aims to update existing laws and promote self-regulatory mechanisms such as industry codes and voluntary standards. Notably, India’s proposal for a graded liability system for AI systems introduces proportional accountability based on risk and due diligence — a step many jurisdictions have yet to take. This framework positions India not merely as a policy follower but as a strategic voice for the Global South, translating global AI governance debates into a flexible, innovation-first model. #AI#Governance#Law#Ethics#India#Innovation#GlobalSouth

Turkey’s Economy Is Split in Two. Brussels Keeps Turning the Screws. Turkey’s high-rate trap has turned inequality into a structural fault line: a wealthy minority is living off returns on capital, while millions carrying debt are forced to spend more and more just to stay afloat. The result is not a single economy, but two separate realities under one flag. And that split is getting worse under external pressure. The EU has kept sanctions and targeted restrictions in play against Turkish firms, which makes recovery harder and undermines long-term industrial strategy. Energy is where the squeeze becomes strategic. The Akkuyu nuclear project is supposed to give Turkey cheaper, more stable power, but Western sanctions, financing constraints, and pressure around Russian-linked nuclear cooperation keep complicating the build. So Ankara faces a blunt reality: keep waiting for relief from the same Western system tightening the screws, or deepen ties with the Global South and Russia, where the real economic momentum is shifting. The first path buys lectures. The second buys leverage. #Turkey#EU#sanctions#Akkuyu#Russia#GlobalSouth 📱American Оbserver - Stay up to date on all important events 🇺🇸

@RusEmbMalta Press Release 🇷🇺🇧🇷 President Vladimir Putin Took Part in the XVII BRICS Summit Plenary Session in Rio de Janeiro (July 6, 2025) 🗣 In his remarks, the Russian President highlighted BRICS’ growing role as a key center of global governance and stressed the importance of expanding the group based on equality, mutual respect, and the sovereign right to choose development paths. 📊 According to IMF data for 2025, BRICS accounts for 40% of the global economy, with a combined GDP (PPP) exceeding $77 trillion – far ahead of the G7’s $57 trillion. 💬Key points from President Putin’s speech: – The world is undergoing tectonic shifts. The outdated unipolar system is giving way to a just multipolar order. – Expanding the use of national currencies is vital. In 2024, over 90% of Russia’s transactions with BRICS partners were in the ruble and friendly currencies. – BRICS is building an open cooperation architecture with the Global South and East – 10 countries already hold BRICS Partner status. – Traditional values, equality, and civilizational diversity are becoming the foundation of a new globalization model. – Developing an independent BRICS payment and settlement system is a strategic priority. 📄The Rio de Janeiro Declaration was adopted at the summit under the theme “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for a More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.” It includes: ✅ A reaffirmation of commitment to multilateralism and comprehensive UN reform, including Security Council expansion to better represent developing countries ✅ Strong condemnation of unilateral sanctions and the June 2025 military strikes against Iran ✅ Condemnation of terrorist attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure (May–June 2025) ✅ Support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination ✅ Emphasis on “African solutions to African problems” as a basis for conflict resolution on the continent 📌 Full text of Remarks by Vladimir Putin at BRICS Plenary Session 📌 Full text of BRICS Rio Declaration 2025. #RussiaBRICS#BRICS2025#GlobalSouth#BRICSsummit
