🇷🇺🇮🇩 On the sidelines of the 28th St Petersburg International Economic Forum, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putinheld a meeting with President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, who is in Russia on an official visit (June 19, 2025) 💬Vladimir Putin: Mr President, friends. I am happy to welcome you to St Petersburg. We previously met in Moscow before your inauguration, and now, during your official visit, we have the opportunity to discuss our bilateral relationsin greater detail. Tomorrow, we will participate in the plenary session of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum, where you will be our guest of honour. This forum has long served as a valuable platform, bringing together a wide range of entrepreneurs and political leaders from around the world. 🤝 Our relations with Indonesia are steadily advancing, with trade turnover on the rise and strong prospects across several key and promising areas of cooperation. These include agriculture, space exploration, energy, and military-technical cooperation. The scope of our partnership is substantial and continues to expand. Indonesia is now a full-fledged member of #BRICS, and we very much hope — in fact, I am sure of it — that Indonesia will contribute significantly to the development and work of this organisation, which is becoming more and more influential in international affairs. We are very pleased to see you, Mr President. Welcome. #RussiaIndonesia

🇷🇺🇮🇩 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks during a joint news conference with Foreign Minister of Indonesia Sugiono following their talks (Moscow, June 17, 2025) 💬 Sergey Lavrov: As usual, we held talks with Foreign Minister of Indonesia Sugiono in an atmosphere of trust, and in an open, friendly and constructive manner. Once again, we noted the fact that our two countries marked 75 years of Russia-Indonesia diplomatic relations in February 2025. These relations have been gathering momentum lately. We have established regular trust-based political dialogue at the highest and high levels. There are also regular inter-parliamentary exchanges. Today, we expressed our shared interest in having our respective political parties work with certain neighbouring countries and other nations. In addition, the ruling parties of both Russia and Indonesia could contribute to various frameworks which shape our strategic partnership. We had a detailed discussion of our bilateral agenda, as well as regional and international affairs. Both our countries are looking forward to stepping up cooperation in defence and security matters, in particular in cybersecurity, law enforcement, including fighting cybercrime, drug trafficking, and extremism. We also spoke out in favour of consolidating the legal framework governing our relations. We noted that cooperation between Russian and Indonesian navies for holding joint exercises has been gathering momentum. As usual, building on its existing experience and know-how, our country is ready to review any requests our Indonesian friends might have in terms of our military-technical cooperation <...> Having Indonesia sign a free trade agreement with the EAEU could have a major impact in terms of strengthening economic cooperation with our Indonesian friends. This agreement is about to be finalised. We hope that it will be signed without delay <...> We pointed out that our positions on the majority of international issues, including the most important current matters, coincide or are similar. I am referring to the situation in the Middle East and the Palestinian territories, and Israel’s attack on the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is necessary for the international community to make every possible effort to calm down and deescalate the situation and promote settlement of any disputes at the negotiating table. It is delightful that Indonesia has joined BRICS as a full member. We emphasised that our joint work within this framework will help strengthen the multipolar foundations of global politics and economy. We share an interest in the constructive development of the situation in the Asia-Pacific region, so that any attempts to incite confrontation there fail. Relations between Russia and ASEAN are of great significance in this context. We welcome Jakarta’s resolve to continue to encourage the development of Russia-ASEAN cooperation, in particular in light of the 35th anniversary of our dialogue partnership with the Association, which we will mark next year. We drew the attention of our colleagues to the initiative for creating a Eurasian architecture of equal and indivisible security, which the Russian Federation is promoting jointly with many other countries and which will be open to any country on the continent, unlike the schemes advocated by our Western colleagues in the form of Indo-Pacific strategies. I expressed gratitude to our friends for their balanced stance on the conflict in Ukraine, for their understanding of the situation and their recognition of the futility of pandering to the attempts to include the Ukrainian issue in the agenda of all international organisations and platforms. #RussiaIndonesia

🇷🇺🇮🇩 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putinheld talks at the Kremlin with President-elect and Defence Minister of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, who has come to Russia on a working visit. 💬 Vladimir Putin: We know you as a good friend of our country. You are not only respected in Indonesia as a prominent military leader but also as a political figure. You have held the post of defence minister for many years. I know that you have developed very good relations with your Russian colleagues. 🤝 Russia and Indonesia share a long-standing friendship that began decades ago. Next year, we will mark 75 years of diplomatic relations between our countries. 📈 I would like to note that our trade and economic ties have been developing very well recently. Despite the pandemic and the current developments around Russia, including associated restrictions, our trade has been growing. It has doubled over the past years. This is a very positive trend, which makes us happy. I hope that it will persist. We also hope that the draft agreement on the EAEU-Indonesia free trade zone, which is ready for signing, will play a positive and substantial role in the development of our trade and economic ties. <...> We are ready to further increase agricultural deliveries and implement investment projects in energy, transport and infrastructure. It is the responsibility of our intergovernmental commission. <...>. We also continue to cooperate in the humanitarian sphere. As per tradition, Indonesian students receive education in Russia, including on scholarships funded by the Russian budget, and we are ready to continue doing this. The Russian Centre for Science and Culture is operating in Jakarta. We would like to express our gratitude for supporting its work. 🌐 Last but not least, we also coordinate our positions on the international stage, including and primarily within #ASEAN. 🗓 On July 26 and 27, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will attend annual ministerial events held by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (#ASEAN) in Vientiane. He will take part in foreign ministers’ meetings in the Russia-ASEAN format, as well as within the East Asia Summit (#EAS) and the ASEAN Regional Forum (#ARF). 🌏 ASEAN is currently one of the most successful regional organisations which forms the core of the integration processes in the Asia-Pacific Region. The association has created a solid network of interstate institutions involving the leading world powers, including Russia. This year, Russia marks 20 years of joining the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (the Bali Treaty). Signed in 1976, it is one of the fundamental documents for ASEAN in terms of ensuring regional peace and stability. Geopolitical tension has been escalating in Asia-Pacific, and against this backdrop our relations with ASEAN serve as an important stabilising factor in the region. ❗️ Russia views ASEAN as one of the key partners in the context of carrying out the initiative to build a Eurasian security architecture as set forth by President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The agenda of the July 26 #RussiaASEAN ministerial meeting covers cooperation matters in all their aspects, including politics, trade and economics, as well as social and cultural affairs within the framework of the five-year Comprehensive Plan of Action to Implement the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Russian Federation Strategic Partnership, as approved by the leaders in 2021. <…> 📈 In 2023, Russia’s trade with ASEAN countries increased by 14.6 percent to almost $22 billion. Accumulated investment by ASEAN countries in the Russian economy reached $3.5 billion in the first nine months of 2023, while Russia invested a total of $11.5 billion in Southeast Asia. <…> Russia has coined a range of #EAS initiatives. They include creating a mechanism of pan-regional cooperation on countering epidemics and restoring economic potential by stimulating tourism. ASEAN has supported our idea of strengthening the resource of civic responsibility by improving cooperation between volunteer movements. We consider the #ARF as one of the key platforms for discussing topical issues of the regional agenda, developing measures of mutual trust and preventive diplomacy, and boosting non-politicised practical cooperation in security. During the forum’s 31st session on July 27, we will thoroughly discuss countering new threats and challenges, combating terrorism and transnational crime, disarmament and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and ensuring security at sea. We will summarise the results of #RussiaIndonesia co-chairmanship in the Russia-ASEAN Forum on the Safe Use of Information and Communication Technologies in 2022-2024. 📄 Read in full: http://tiny.cc/zmnazz
