In old Rus' people used to start making the straw effigy of winter (which would be burned on Sunday), and bake the very first pancakes. The first pancake was never eaten — it was given to the poor or left on the window to honor ancestors . 👍Tuesday — Заигрыши (Flirting/Game Day) This was all about matchmaking and finding love! Young people would go sledding together, visit each other for pancakes, and couples who formed this week could get married after Easter. 👍Wednesday — Лакомка (Gourmet Day) Time for sons-in-law to visit their mothers-in-law for pancakes! The more pancakes they ate, the happier their marriage would be.
