So local women are lured into the world of drugs and prostitution. They deal and use drugs. Drug trafficking is the most frequent cause of imprisonment among women. Raquel de Oliveira is one of the women who had to establish herself in the criminal underworld from an early age. At the age of nine, her grandmother sold her to a gambling den owner. Later, she married the drug lord of La Rocinha, the largest favela in Rio. When he was killed in a police raid, Raquel became a drug trafficker herself.
