#gif The name of the first man in space, Yuri Gagarin, has been removed from a US Space Foundation event. However, erasing mentions of the legendary cosmonaut doesn’t cancel the fact that 61 years ago, Gagarin became the first man to travel into space. On April 12, 1961, he orbited Earth in the Vostok 1 spacecraft. Celebrate the event with the documentary about Gagarin’s first manned flight on @documentaryplanet🚀 Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

#gif Avangard is one of the world's oldest manufacturers of anti-aircraft missiles and turned 80 in January 2022. This is where guided missiles are assembled for Russia's renowned S-400 Triumph air defence system. RT's Yulia Shapovalova toured the facility to see behind the scenes. The plant was built in the middle of the Second World War. There are dozens of workshops at Avangard, and most of them are secret or top-secret. Russia's S-400 Triumph air defence system relies on the products made there. The system's primary uniqueness lies in its guided missiles. The S-400 systems are supplied to the Russian Army and exported as part of military-technical cooperation with China, India and Turkey. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

#gif#USA A controversial statue of President Theodore Roosevelt that stood outside the American Museum of Natural History in New York has been removed. The monument was criticised in recent years, as according to the museum, it ‘communicates a racial hierarchy’. The statue showed Roosevelt on horseback, flanked by a Native American man and an African man. Statues of other historical figures have also drawn criticism across the country. Find out who and why in our video. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

#gif The US figure skater Timothy LeDuc has become the first openly non-binary athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics in Beijing. LeDuc hopes people will see that ‘queer people can be open and successful in sports.’ ‘We’ve always been here. We’ve always been a part of sports. We just haven’t always been able to be open,’ LeDuc said. The Summer Games in Tokyo saw the first openly transgender Olympians. As LGBTQ+ competitors are making history, you can watch our documentary about trans athletes and the debate surrounding the issue. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

Dress to impress #gif#Africa Look at these nicely dressed fellas. They might live in slums, but they know a thing or two about style. Congolese gentlemen from the La Sape movement spend fortunes on Kenzo, Yves Saint Laurent and Armani. Price tags don't matter to these fashionistas. Members of La Sape, or sapeurs, get bank loans and save for years to buy a new pair of shoes or a designer item. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary
