Have you already heard how former US President George W. Bush misspoke in a speech about the situation in Ukraine, condemning the 'invasion of Iraq'? His gaffe led people to remember the U.S. campaign in 2003 after the Bush administration accused Iraq of having weapons of mass destruction. Later it turned out that there was no evidence for this. Watch the video. The consequences of the U.S. invasion were terrible. The Iraq conflict turned into a war with ISIS*. We have a film about Mosul, one of the largest Iraqi cities. Watch how it was recovering after wars in our film Mosul Between War & Peace. *considered as terrorist banned in the Russian Federation #video#Ukraine#Iraq Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

The non-profit organisation Nature Iraq is trying to revive the rivers. Watch what Basra became due to water pollution in the video. #video#Iraq Wadi al-Salam is considered the world’s biggest and oldest graveyard. It hosts some five million tombstones, the first of which were laid 1,300 years ago. Wadi al-Salam means ‘Valley of Peace’, and its where many Shia Muslims are eager to be buried because they will be close to Imam Ali. He was a Shiite holy man who was cousin and son-in-law to the Prophet Muhammed. The cemetery workers know every nook and cranny of this giant burial ground. They are hereditary gravediggers, and their families have worked on the site for generations. Watch the documentary, Sons of the Graveyard, on Odysee. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

#video#Iraq Hicham al-Zahabi has witnessed wars, America’s invasion of Iraq, and the rise of Islamic State. He’s seen what happens after children lose their families and homes in tragic events like these. ‘Most of them were sniffing acetone. They were wearing rags, and their hair was matted,’ the Baghdad resident says. Hicham started working with street kids in 2003. He first took in four street boys to live with his family. From there, his concern has grown into the Iraqi Safe House for Creativity, where children can feel safe and find a hobby. Dozens of boys have gone through Hicham’s orphanage over the years. Muqtada was brought to Hicham’s orphanage by his mother, who’s afraid he’s spending too much time on the streets. Check out the full documentary to find out more about Hicham’s mission and the boys he’s raising. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

#video#Iraq The Mesopotamian Marshes in Iraq are the site of the world’s earliest civilisations. It’s where the biblical Garden of Eden is said to have been. Today, the wetlands are home to the Marsh Arabs and their unique lifestyle, preserved for generations. They breed water buffaloes, live in reed-built houses and navigate in long boats. The Arab Marshes endured the Iran-Iraq war and the draining of the marshes by Saddam Hussein in a vendetta against rebellious tribesmen. Their survival is once again at risk due to a severe water crisis in the country, the result of climate change and the construction of a dam upriver in Turkey and Syria.
