🗓#OnThisDay in 1984, Hero of the Russian Federation, Air Force Major Roman Filipov was born. At school, Roman Filipov dreamt of a career in the Air Force, following in his father’s footsteps. After completing his 11-year secondary education, he enrolled in the Krasnodar Higher Military Aviation School. ✈️ At the age of 18, he was assigned to the 187th Guards Air Assault Regiment based in the village of Chernigovka, the Primorye Territory. He quickly rose through the ranks, starting as a senior pilot and eventually becoming deputy air squadron commander at an assault air regiment of the Eastern Military District. He was then deployed to the Air Group of the Russian Aerospace Forces in Syria. Upon arrival, he took part in military operations as a flight commander, piloting Sukhoi Su-25SM ground-attack aircraft. Roman Filipov was an ace Class 1 Pilot and frequently participated in Russia’s national Aviadarts exercises. His total flying time was 1,300 hours as he completed 80 combat sorties. ▪️ He perished in the line of duty in Syria on February 3, 2018, while returning to base after a fly-by over the Idlib de-escalation zone. His Su-25SM was shot down by terrorists using a portable surface-to-air missile system. He tried to keep his plane airborne, diverting it from houses on the ground. Once he successfully accomplished this, he ejected from the aircraft. He was encircled by militants on the ground, conducted an unequal battle against the enemy, became severely injured, and, when the enemy forces approached him at minimum distance, exploded himself with a grenade, shouting: “This is for our guys!”. 🎖 Major Roman Filipov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously) for his heroism, courage and bravery in the performance of military duty. #WeRemember

Мы недвусмысленно выступаем за расширение Совета исключительно за счет развивающихся странАфрики, Азии и Латинской Америки. Реформированный Совет должен оставаться эффективным и авторитетным. Для этого его состав не должен быть чрезмерно широким. Совет Безопасности из 25-30 членов эффективно выполнять свой мандат не сможет. Кроме того, в его распоряжении должен оставаться такой действенный механизм, заложенный государствами-основателями ООН в ее Устав, как право вето. ⚠️ В последние годы наблюдаем от ряда наших коллег достаточно конъюнктурный подход к включению в состав Совета новых представителей Африки. Их больше заботит, чтобы вместе со странами Глобального Юга в постоянный и непостоянный «пул» Совета попали страны-союзники по блоку НАТО. Призываем наших африканских коллег проявлять бдительность и не совершать ошибку: преодолеть историческую несправедливость в отношении Африки при параллельном вхождении в СБ ООН новых западных членов не получится. Последствия колониализма распространяются на все сферы жизни африканского общества и являются весомым препятствием к обретению странами континента устойчивой роли в мировых делах. Прямое угнетение сменилось изощренными формами неоколониализма – здесь и закрепление сырьевого характера экономик и жесткие программы МВФ, и «утечка мозгов». Прямым ограничением на развитие, а подчас – и сам суверенитет стран-заемщиков – является растущее долговое бремя. ❗ Экономическая поддержка развивающимся странам со стороны государств Запада – это не жест доброй воли, а моральный долг за несправедливость эксплуататорской колониальной системы прошлого и современной международной финансовой системы. На фоне ухудшения общей гуманитарной ситуации в Африке удивляет откровенная политизация вопросов оказания гуманитарной помощи со стороны западных доноров. Западные доноры оказывают финансовую поддержку преимущественно на проекты, связанные с их собственными приоритетами, тогда как насущные потребности африканских стран в инфраструктуре и технологий зачастую остаются без внимания. ☝Настала пора положить этому конец и перейти к справедливому миропорядку, исправив искусственные дисбалансы из прошлых времен, когда большая часть Африки была еще колонизирована. Шагами в правильном направлении стало недавнее включение Афросоюза в состав «Группы двадцати», а также расширение БРИКС, во многом за счет стран Африки. Пережитком устаревшей колониальной логики в Совете является текущее распределение неформального кураторства страновых и региональных «досье» в Совете за бывшими метрополиями. Складывается весьма неутешительная ситуация, при которой большая часть народов Африки обрела свою независимость, а их бывшие колонизаторы по-прежнему осуществляют «пригляд» за ними из зала СБ. 🤝 СССР всегда был искренним и верным другом Африки, помогавшим ей освободиться от оков колониализма и эксплуатации, прочно встать на ноги. During the War, the peoples of the Soviet Union were subjected to horrific and unparalleled crimes committed by the Nazis and their accomplices. The Geneva Conventions, adopted in 1949, were developed in part based on this tragic experience. ⛑ Today, the Geneva Conventions and their Additional Protocols are a key source of international humanitarian law. Ensuring the strict compliance with these international treaties is a common task for the international community. ❗️ Currently, we observe violations of international humanitarian law, as well as attempts by certain countries to use the Geneva Conventions for their political gains. However, this does not reflect a failure of these international legal standards. It rather stems from the inability or unwillingness of certain parties to implement them faithfully in practice. 🇷🇺 It is important to emphasize that Russia is firmly committed to its obligations under international humanitarian law.

🇷🇺Russia's wheat supply reaches 26.1% of global exports in 2023-2024 agricultural season Russia exported a record 55.3 million tonnes of wheat in the 2023-2024 agricultural season, an analysis of the International Grains Council's data conducted by Sputnik showed on Friday. Russia's export volume reached the highest figure in modern history and jumped by 15% year-on-year. Global wheat exports in the last agricultural year stood at 211.7 million tonnes, against 208.7 million year-on-year. The European Union was the second-largest wheat exporter after Russia, with the bloc's supplies increasing by 0.7% to 35.3 million tonnes.
