This amazing song by Yuri Vizbor (1967) is performed by his granddaughter Varvara Vizbor. А зима будет большая… The winter will be long... Вот, гляди-ка, за рекой Look beyond the river Тихо осень умирает, Autumn is quietly dying, Машет жёлтою рукой. Waving with its yellow hand. Плачут мокрые осины, The wet aspens are crying, Плачет дедушка Арбат, Grandfather Arbat (Moscow street) is crying, Плачет синяя Россия, Azure Russia is crying, Превратившись в снегопад. Having turned into a snowfall. И, сугробы сокрушая, And, crushing the snowdrifts Солнце брызнет по весне… The sun will splash in the spring... А зима будет большая — The winter will be long – Тoлько сумерки да снег. Only twilight and snow. Сheck other songs #sing_it_🎵 🟠RCRussian | Support | Boost

Why did money start to be called 'бабки' [bahp-kee] (grandmothers) in Russia? 🔻This tradition came from the 19th century. It was then that they started printing the portrait of Catherine II the Great on hundred-ruble banknotes and she was also the grandmother of two Russian emperors – Alexander I and Nicholas I. 🔻The large 100 ruble banknote, on which one could buy four cows, started to be called Царская бабка (Tsar's babka). And in slang it was simplified to бабка. 🔻Аt first this money was called Катеринка or Катенька and based on the fact that the empress was depicted at a quite respectable age, the notes started to be called бабки. 🔻The portrait of the “grandmother” had not changed since 1886. Soon banknotes of all denominations started to be called бабки and subsequently all money. 🔻And no matter how new money might look, whether 5000-ruble notes or 100-ruble notes, for many of Russians they all remain бабки (plural). #brief_and_interesting 😎RCRussian | Support | Boost

• (Врать) на голубом глазу [vrat' na ga-lu-bom gla-zu] SLT: (To lie) on a blue eye Deliberately deceiving, with a straight face, the barefaced lie 🔻This phraseological unit (used as an adverb phrase) is about the person who acts hypocritically or unnaturally, pretending to be honest or naive. Origin: The origin of this expression has to do with newborn babies whose eyes are misty blue. Over time, the colour of a newborn's eyes changes and becomes the permanent eye colour. The blue eyes of a baby symbolize innocence. Example: • Он на голубом глазу врал, что не знал, что случилось. Но мы знали правду! He lied through his teeth, claiming he didn't know what happened. But we knew the truth! ▶️Втирать очки ▶️Вешать лапшу на уши 🎧🗣👇 Do you know any other phrases with the noun ГЛАЗА? #phraseology #spoken_Russian #learnRussian 😎RCRussian | Support | Boost

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has warned EU countries that they will have to learn how to speak Russian in 4-5 years if they do not significantly increase the amount of money that they spend on defense, which currently stands at 2% of GDP. He said this in his speech to the European Parliament in Brussels. "If we do not do this, we will have to start studying Russian in 4-5 years or go to New Zealand," he said. 📎Not that I'm driving at anything but stay with @learnRCRussian and learn some Russian for free with us!😉 Source: TASS Picture: AIшедеврум #news #learnRussian 😎 Subscribe to https://t.me/learnRCRussian
