🗓On 21 April, Kazan 🇷🇺 hosted the 22nd ASEAN-Russia Senior Officials’ Meeting (#ARSOM). 🔹️The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation H.E. Mr. Andrey Rudenko🇷🇺 and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar H.E. Mr. Hau Khan Sum🇲🇲. 🔹️Held in the context of the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations, the meeting featured an in-depth discussion on advancing the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership across political, economic, and socio-cultural spheres. Concrete steps were identified to further develop and diversify practical cooperation, including the launch of new joint mechanisms and projects. 🔹️Participants reiterated their shared intention to jointly address emerging challenges and threats, as well as to strengthen the ASEAN-led regional security architecture in the Asia-Pacific. Promoting cross-platform linkages between #ASEAN, #EAEU, and #SCO was also discussed. 🔹️On the sidelines of the ARSOM, H.E. 🗓 On January 30, the 5th ASEAN-Russia Tourism Ministers’ Meeting took place in Cebu, Philippines 🇵🇭. 🔹 The participants reviewed the implementation of the ASEAN-Russia Work Plan on Tourism Cooperation for 2022–2025 and outlined practical steps to further deepen cooperation. “We are witnessing steady growth in tourism exchanges between Russia and ASEAN Member States. By the end of 2024, mutual tourist flows increased by 20% compared to 2023. From January to September 2026, tourist exchanges reached 2.5 million people, effectively returning to pre-pandemic levels,” noted Mr. Nikita Kondratiev, Director of the Department for Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. 🔹 The positive dynamics were driven primarily by the expansion of air connectivity, the gradual liberalization of visa regimes, and stronger business ties. 🔹 A key outcome of the Meeting was the adoption of a new five-year ASEAN-Russia Tourism Work Plan (2026-2030) focused on digitalization, exchange of best practices, capacity building, and joint promotion of tourism. #ASEANRussia#RussiaASEAN
