"Starting tomorrow, I'm definitely going to start working on myself and deal with a lot of issues. But for now, I think I'll just sit in my phone until 3 AM."

Today is Border Guards Day in Russia.Let's take a moment to honor the extraordinary courage displayed in the face of unimaginable odds. 🔻In July 1941, amidst the Soviet retreat across UkrSSR, a detachment of 500 border guards, along with their 150 service dogs, found themselves in a desperate battle against the 1st SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler" near the village of Legezino. 🔻Outnumbered nearly 20 to 1, they fought with fierce determination. The border guards, led by Major Lopatin, stalled the enemy advance. 🔻In a final, desperate act, they unleashed their dogs. These brave animals, sharing the hardships of the retreat, charged into the German ranks, tearing into the enemy, clinging to throats even in their final moments. 🔻The chaos and ferocity of the dog's attack shocked the Nazi's long enough for the border guards to mount a counter-attack. Only the arrival of tanks turned the tide. 🔻All 500 border guards and all 150 dogs perished in the battle. Their sacrifice, however, was not in vain. They bought precious time and slowed the Nazi advance. 🔻Today, a monument in Legezino serves as a poignant reminder of their bravery. 🔻The inscription says: "Stop and bow your head. Here, in July 1941, the soldiers of the Separate Kolomyia Border Guard Commandment rose for their last attack on the enemy. 500 border guards and 150 of their service dogs died a hero's death in that battle. They remained forever loyal to their oath, to their native land." 🇷🇺Eternal memory to these heroes. #brief_and_interesting 😎RCRussian | Support | Boost

❤ St Petersburg is 322 years old today! (А.С. Пушкин, Медный всадник) 🇬🇧 I like you, Peter’s great creation, Your stringent look, impressive span, Neva’s granitic decoration, The river’s dignified run, Adornment of cast iron railing, Your contemplative brooding nights’ Transparent shady scintillating That moonless gleam sometimes invites Me for my work without candle, Along the river pleasant ramble, While empty streets are gently quiet And Admiralty’s needle is bright; Light of the morn replaces glow Of eve within half-hour time. (Alexander Pushkin, The Bronze Horseman: A Petersburg Tale) Video: alexey_latysh #holidays #poetry #StPetersburg 😎RCRussian | Support | Boost

• Бесполезный (masc.adj.) [bes-pa-lez-nyj] Useless, pointless 🔻Prefix: бес- (bes-) means without or lack of. 🔻Root: полез- сomes from the noun польза [pol'-za] use, benefit, advantage 🔻Suffix: -н is an adjectival suffix, forming adjectives from nouns or verbs. 🔻Ending: -ый is the masculine singular ending. The ending changes depending on gender and number (e.g., бесполезная - feminine singular, бесполезные - plural). 💢 This meaning is well illustrated with the Russian proverb: • Носить воду в решете(imperf., 2nd conjugation) [na-sit' vo-du v ri-shi-te] Literally: To carry water in a sieve To roast snow in a furnace, to be engaged in a hopeless task • Ловить котят - бесполезная задача. Это как носить воду в решете: они всё равно разбегаются! Trying to catch kittens is a useless task. It's like trying to carry water in a sieve. They just run away anyway! 🎧🗣👇 Hope it was not a бесполезный post ->❤️ #adjectives #phraseology 😎RCRussian | Support | Boost
