#video The final stages of the retaking of Donetsk airport took place in late 2014 early 2015. Tensions were flying high. The Donetsk airport within the city limits became a stronghold the Ukrainian army wanted to retain. The Donbass militia was forced to stop them from taking it over. In response to the Donbass people’s militia, the Ukrainian army directed fire towards the peaceful districts of the city. Donbass residents had to hide from gunfire and lost their loved ones in the war, as the old and new terminals were taken by storm. The Ukrainian military eventually lost control, leaving Donetsk airport was destroyed. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

#video In 2014, Donbass residents refused to recognise the results of “Maidan”, which sparked a severe reaction from the Ukrainian authorities. Donetsk Airport became a base for the Ukrainian military in the conflict because of its location. They succeeded in taking it over and used the control tower as the base for shelling the militia and peaceful citizens. One of the main objectives was retaking the airport control tower. The film features burnt homes, people seeking for shelter, and victims of shelling from the airport. The film crew also met militia members, former miners, teachers, and plumbers, who had taken up arms to defend their home. Tune in for Donbass War: Airport. #video#Arctic On the 80th parallel north, there’s not much life. It’s a vast icy desert with the occasional polar bear in the distance. Nevertheless, Russian researchers have been travelling nearly to the top of the world since 1937 to collect data from the Arctic region. They used to land on an old thick ice floe to live and work on it for almost a year. Then, they slowly drifted across the Arctic ocean. But warmer temperatures mean the ice cover is melting rapidly. So expeditions had to be evacuated after the ice gave way under their drifting stations. They’ve come up with the ‘ship and ice’ polar station when researchers work on the ice but can retreat to the safety of a vessel. We joined an expedition aboard the Akademik Tryoshnikov.
