Within minutes, Leith’s entire family was killed by terrorists in front of him. In 2016, militants in Syria seized the boy’s village. His father fought the terrorists and waited for reinforcements until the last moment. It never came. Three generations of the family were in the house when the fighters stormed it. Only five-year-old Leith and his grandmother survived. Watch the clip to learn his fate years after the tragedy. Then, find more about the conflict and its victims in the documentary Syria: The Story of One Tragedy. #Syria Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

On May 6, Syria celebrates the day of the martyrs. In 1916, those who fought for the country’s independence were executed. But their fight has been going on for a hundred years. In 2017 the country was in the middle of a war. More than ten years of war in Syria caused over 600,000 deaths. Thousands of children lost their parents. As a young boy, Leith saw his family gunned down. We filmed him with his grandmother five years after the trauma. Watch how they were getting by in the video. The full story of Leith is in our documentary Syria: The Story of One Tragedy. #video#Syria Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

Syrian Tango 💃 #video#Syria Is there something you’d like to do, but something is holding you back? Rawnak from Latakia dares to dance despite conservative attitudes in Syrian society. Even though many frown upon their activities, she and her dance group organise flash mobs on the city streets. But Rawnak insists they have to do what they like. This piece is from our documentary, Syrian Tango, about artists reviving the artistic scene in Syria. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

The Boy Who Survived #photo#Syria Leith was a regular happy boy. He had a mom and dad, brothers and sisters, rode a bike, kissed his mom before bed, and went to the sea with his family. Then, when he was five, he suddenly lost them all. Terrorists killed everyone. He only survived thanks to his father, who smeared Leith with blood so the murderers would think he was dead. His grandmother saw everyone die in a matter of minutes. She was only left alive so the terrorists could swap her and other women for their own people. Here are some pictures we took while filming our documentary, Syria: The Story of One Tragedy. Now Leith goes to school and lives with his grandma in a shelter in Homs.
