ICYMI: Sen. Kyrsten Sinema switched her party affiliation from Democrat to Independent, but we’re still counting her as a Dem because she’s accepting committee assignments from them. With midterms a wrap, what’s next? We’re turning this channel into a 2024 presidential tracker, where we’ll share the most important stories and updates leading up to the election. In the meantime, I’d love to know how we can make this channel more useful for you. DM me on Telegram — @janjbyun — with your thoughts and comments. Thanks for sticking with us 🤗.

As for the House: We’re still waiting on a call in Colorado’s 3rd district, but the result won’t change the fact that Republicans will control the chamber. Stay tuned for the final balance of power in the next Congress.

Sen. Raphael Warnock has defeated GOP challenger Herschel Walker in Georgia’s Senate runoff, giving Dems a 51-seat majority next year. Warnock’s win means that Senate Dems protected every seat they had on the ballot this year (while also flipping the open seat in PA). It’s also a big defeat for Donald Trump’s endorsed candidates — a sore spot for local Republicans around the country who say he saddled the party with unelectable candidates.

While control of both chambers has been called, here’s why the Dec. 6 Georgia Senate runoff is still incredibly important to watch: 👉 If Republican Herschel Walker flips the seat, the Senate will remain evenly split at 50-50, with VP Kamala Harris breaking ties and moderates like Joe Manchin holding huge leverage. 👉 If Democrat Raphael Warnock holds his seat, the balance of power will shift further to the left, giving Dems a 51-49 majority. Committees would no longer be evenly split, speeding up judicial nominations and avoiding bill deadlocks. We’ll be back with results and a look at the final balance of power in the 118th Congress. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving 🦃

A split chamber opens the door to divided government and anti-Biden investigations ahead of the 2024 election.

🚨Republicans have won back control of the House after more than a week of vote counting. They’re on track for a slim majority, far from the red wave originally predicted.

It’s official 🚨Democrats will retain control of the Senate — a rare midterm victory for a sitting president — after incumbent Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto was declared the winner of her closely contested race in Nevada. Cortez Masto’s victory means the Georgia Senate runoff election next month will merely determine the margin that Dems have in the chamber, rather than control itself. Now all eyes are on the House… Stay tuned.

Just in 🚨Sen. Mark Kelly has won the Senate race in Arizona, keeping the seat in Democratic hands. Republicans had viewed the seat as a pickup opportunity given the flagging economy and President Biden’s low approval rating in the swing state. Now, all eyes are on Nevada. If Democrats win there, they win Senate majority. But if the GOP succeeds, Georgia's runoff race on Dec. 6 will decide which party controls the chamber.

Hello hello! A recap of where things stand the day after elections* ⬇️ Battle for Senate control: The only flip so far was in Pennsylvania, where John Fetterman defeated Mehmet Oz. Now all eyes are on the 3 toss-up races still uncalled: Arizona, Nevada and Georgia. Whichever party wins at least 2 of these toss-up races will claim control of the Senate. But with Democrat Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker headed toward a runoff, we may not have an answer until December. And in the House: It looks like Republicans will probably gain between 8 and 15 seats — enough to control the chamber, but well short of predictions. The big takeaway from last night: There was no red wave. Republicans under-performed, Democrats breathed a sigh of relief — and once again, President Biden defied expectations at a moment when he seemed destined for a catastrophic loss, leaving White House aides giddy last night. We’ll be back with more. *This message has been updated with the latest.
