The Afghan Woman King #video#Afghanistan “Back then, I had a Kalashnikov, a rifle and shotgun, but a handgun is more convenient. First of all, it's easy to conceal. You can use it in a car, aim it in either direction.” These are not the words of a seasoned soldier. This is Bibi Hokmeena, an Afghan woman, talking about her time as a jihad warrior in the 1980s. Hokmeena is truly an amazing woman full of contradictions. She is a devout Muslim, but has been wearing men’s clothes her entire life. She fights for women’s rights, but she would never condone western values and call herself a feminist. Hokmeena’s never been in love, but is revered by men and women who call her ‘Woman King’. Doomsday preppers #video#USA Roberta is ready for any cataclysm. Her bunker has a place to sleep, toilet, shower and stocks of canned fruit that should last for years. Although her husband Fernando can’t help smiling when Roberta talks about what she is preparing for. Roberta is one of America’s doomsday preppers, or survivalists, who plan for the worst-case scenario, from a zombie apocalypse to a civil war. Preppers are usually seen as crazy people, but when you see some modern bunkers on the market, you kind of wish you had one! Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

Ivan’s pet wolf🐺 #video#Russia In Russia, we don’t keep bears as pets. But some like Ivan keep wolves. When Ivan was offered a wolf cub to adopt, he agreed without giving it a second thought. Otherwise, the tiny animal would’ve been killed. Ivan brought the wolf to live with him in a one-room flat he shared with his daughter and their two dogs. So Ivan started a blog to raise some money for the expensive meat his wolf is partial to devouring in large quantities. The blog was apparently so successful that it has recently allowed Ivan and his pack to move to a country house, where the wolf will be able to roam in a spacious enclosure. World’s dirtiest river #video#Indonesia When we look at the Citarum River, our level of eco-anxiety skyrockets. The Indonesian river is a main waterway for some 20 million people who live along its banks. However, over 2,000 factories and other industrial facilities have turned it into a giant septic tank. In some places, where toxic waste is dumped, you can see the water turning black. But it’s not just industrial waste; locals dump their household waste and sewage straight into the Citarum. At the same time, the river remains the only source of water for 4,000 rice fields and millions of households. The locals scratch a living by collecting recyclable garbage from the river. Everybody dance now! #video#Africa Imagine your teacher challenging you to a dance-off instead of having you take a written exam. That’s what Ghanaian teacher Percy Sackey would do, 100%. He shot to internet fame after he started sharing videos of himself dancing with his students. He loves to dance and this is how he encourages kids to study and overcome their fears of teachers and failing. Dance is a big part of Ghanaian culture. They dance on all-important occasions, including funerals. You all remember the dancing pallbearers video, right? Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

Agafia of Siberia #video#Russia Agafia Lykova hasn’t been bothered by the pandemic in the slightest. That’s because she has been living deep in the Siberian taiga all by herself for quite some time! Agafia was born 77 years ago to a family of Old Believers, members of an Orthodox Christian sect who fled religious persecution during Soviet times. When Agafia’s family was first discovered in 1978, they looked like peasants straight from the 18th century. That was the first time she had ever met outsiders. All her family members are long gone, but Agafia has never left her hut in the forest. She reads the Bible, speaks old Slavonic and remains self-sufficient to this day. Nothing has changed for her, except for the journalists who come from time to time to film the Siberian hermit. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

Married at 12 #video#Gypsy Russian Gypsy boys get married when they’re 10 to 12 years old. Girls tie the knot when they’re a bit older, from 15 to 16. The newlyweds are barely acquainted, but they’ll have a lifetime to get to know each other, as adults say. Kids have no say when it comes to choosing their future spouse. The groom's family has to pay a hefty dowry for the bride. A young wife is expected to take care of most of the household chores. Unlike her husband, a Gypsy wife can't work or study. While other Gypsy traditions are fading away, child marriages live on. This is what a Gypsy wedding looks like. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

His Kung-Fu is Better Than Yours #video#Afghanistan Let's take a moment and watch these honed moves. Abbas Alizada from Afghanistan looks just like Bruce Lee. He had always dreamed of becoming a world famous athlete, so when friends and relatives pointed out his resemblance to the martial arts star, Abbas began making himself even more like Bruce Lee. He cut his hair and began rigorous training sessions. Abbas watched Bruce Lee movies in slow motion over and over again in order to learn the actor’s famous moves and master the art of nunchucks. The Bruce Lee lookalike is a social media sensation in Afghanistan. Abbas is invited to TV shows and sporting events, but not everyone in the traditionalist society is happy about Abbas impersonating "an infidel". Well, we think he's cool. Love in plastic is fantastic #video#Japan Senji Nakajima is 62 and he’s in love … with a doll! Saori looks incredibly realistic, so it’s hard to blame Mr. Nakajima for taking his romance with a silicone dummy so seriously. "Before I could never have imagined a person living with a doll, and not with a wife, not as a married man, but now I can". Senji also has a real living-breathing wife, but he prefers to live with silicone Saori. His wife Yayoi comes to help with the household chores, while he takes his silicone girlfriend on dates and engages in one-sided conversations. Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

Nepalese Kidney Village #video#Nepal There’s an entire village in Nepal called the 'kidney village.' That’s because almost every household has a family member who’s sold a kidney here. Organ smugglers frequent Nepalese villages to convince their poor residents to sell their organs. Many are told their kidney will grow back like fruit after the surgery, or that sacrificing just one won’t affect them. Up to 10,000 kidneys are sold on the black market every year. Shyam Kumar Budhathoki was one such Nepalese villager. He was promised $6,000, but paid much less, and now he can’t walk because a problem with his legs appeared after the surgery.
