@RusEmbMalta Press release Sergey Lavrov: Europe Is Now the Main Obstacle to Peace – While Russia and the US Search for Real Solutions 📍 Key points from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with TASS 28 December 2025 🇷🇺Russia on Peace in Ukraine Russia welcomes and supports the peace efforts of US President Donald Trump and his administration and remains committed to serious, substantive dialogue aimed at resolving the root causes of the conflict. “Russia is ready to work with American negotiators to achieve lasting agreements.” At the same time, Kiev and its European curators continue to sabotage the peace process: • Kiev persists in military escalation • Civilian infrastructure in Russia is targeted • European capitals continue pumping the regime with weapons and money After the change of administration in Washington, it is now Europe – not the US – that has become the main obstacle to peace. 💶Europe’s Strategy: Prolong the Conflict European leaders openly admit they are preparing for confrontation with Russia. They continue pursuing: • Economic war • Attempts to confiscate Russia’s assets • Efforts to impose a strategic defeat on Russia Meanwhile, corruption scandals in Ukraine are conveniently ignored. “Europe is using the Kiev regime as a battering ram against Russia.” Russia–US Relations: A Window for Normalisation The new US National Security Strategy no longer treats Russia as an immediate threat and does not call for system-wide containment. It also publicly questions NATO’s long-standing policy of expansionism – for the first time in decades. Russia notes these shifts but stresses: Judgments will be based on actions, not declarations. 🌍Europe on the Brink of a Dangerous Course The EU has been dismantling its mechanisms of cooperation with Russia since 2014, promoting militarism and Russophobia. European leaders are now discussing the possible deployment of troops to Ukraine. Russia warns: Any foreign military forces in Ukraine would be considered legitimate targets. Russia poses no threat to Europe – but any attack on Russia will meet a devastating response. Middle East: Law, Not Force Russia strongly condemns Israel’s strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities conducted with US participation. These actions violate international law and basic moral principles. In Gaza, the situation remains fragile: ceasefire violations, humanitarian restrictions, and unresolved political questions continue to threaten stability. Russia reaffirms: A viable Palestinian state is essential for lasting peace. 🌏Asia-Pacific: Taiwan and Regional Stability Russia’s position is clear and unchanged: • Taiwan is an integral part of China • Russia firmly supports China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity • Any interference is a dangerous destabilising factor The growing militarisation of Japan is also raising serious concerns for regional stability. 🧭Strategic Message Peace requires responsibility. Escalation is a choice. Dialogue remains the only path forward. 🔗 Full text of the interview. #Russia#PeaceProcess#Ukraine#Europe#InternationalLaw#MiddleEast#AsiaPacific🕊️

@RusEmbMalta Press Release Special issue 🇷🇺Comment by Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov following the phone conversation between Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump (October 16, 2025) ⚡️ The two Presidents held their eighth phone conversation – an open, trustful and detailed exchange that lasted nearly two and a half hours. 💬 President Putin congratulated Donald Trump on his success in stabilizing the situation in Gaza, noting that his peace efforts have been widely recognized in the Middle East, the U.S., and globally. Russia reaffirmed its consistent stance in favor of a comprehensive Middle East settlement based on international law and equal security for all nations of the region. ❗️A key focus of the conversation was the situation in Ukraine. President Putin provided a detailed assessment, reiterating Russia’s commitment to a political and diplomatic resolution. He noted that Russian Armed Forces retain strategic initiative along the entire frontline, while Kiev resorts to terrorist tactics, striking civilian and energy infrastructure. ☝️ President Trump repeatedly emphasized the need for peace in Ukraine, calling it the most difficult conflict he has faced in his peace-making initiatives. He also highlighted that ending this conflict could unlock tremendous potential for U.S.–Russia economic cooperation. 🔹Both leaders underscored the historic ties of friendship between the peoples of Russia and the United States, especially during WWII, and noted the paradoxical nature of the current bilateral climate. 🔹The Presidents discussed potential U.S. supplies of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. President Putin reaffirmed that such steps would not alter the battlefield but would seriously harm bilateral relations and peace prospects. 🔹 Importantly, the two leaders discussed preparations for a personal meeting, possibly in Budapest, with relevant teams instructed to begin work without delay. 🔹 President Putin also praised the humanitarian efforts of Melania Trump in reuniting Russian and Ukrainian children with their families, asking that his best wishes be conveyed to her. ✅ Overall, the conversation was constructive and meaningful. Both Presidents agreed to stay in close contact. Read in full here. #RussiaUSA#MiddleEast#InternationalRelations

🇷🇺@RusEmbMalta Press Release On the Impact of Western Policies on Global Migration Flows 15 October 2025 🔷 The Russian Embassy draws attention to the growing migration crisis that continues to challenge the stability and security of many regions, including Europe. The root causes of this phenomenon are well known – the reckless and shortsighted interventions of the United States and its NATO allies in sovereign states such as Libya, Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. 🔷 These actions, carried out under the pretext of promoting “democracy,” led to the destruction of national institutions, the rise of terrorism, and the collapse of entire economies. It is precisely this chaos that forced millions to abandon their homes in search of safety and stability. 🔷 At the same time, the United States continues to exert direct influence over the migration policies of the European Union, promoting approaches that ignore the interests of individual nations. The imposed regulatory framework from Brussels, shaped under Washington’s guidance, undermines national economies, fuels social tensions, and creates preconditions for uncontrolled inflows of refugees. Such developments threaten the cultural and demographic balance of European societies. 🔷Russia consistently supports a fair and sustainable solution to migration issues – one that focuses on eliminating the true causes of displacement, rather than shifting responsibility. We advocate collective international efforts, coordinated through the United Nations, to restore stability in the Middle East and North Africa and to assist countries affected by external interference. 🔷 Moscow also reaffirms its principled position in favor of establishing a sovereign and independent State of Palestine in accordance with UN resolutions – as an essential step toward ensuring long-term peace and justice in the region. 🔷 The time has come to recognize that durable stability cannot be achieved through coercion or selective narratives, but only through respect for sovereignty, dialogue, and genuine partnership. #MigrationCrisis#USPolicy#EUMigration#UNCharter#MiddleEast#Palestine

@RusEmbMalta Press release: 🇷🇺 Russia’s Foreign Ministry Statement on Gaza On August 8, Israel’s security cabinet approved plans to expand military operations in the Gaza Strip – targeting the once most populous central area. 📢Reports indicate that all Palestinian civilians will be forcibly evacuated, with plans for full military occupation. ⚠️These actions – already widely condemned – risk deepening the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and destabilising the entire Middle East. 🇷🇺 Russia’s position is clear: 🔹 Immediate ceasefire. 🔹Release of all hostages and detainees. 🔹 Unhindered humanitarian access. Moscow reaffirms: the only path forward is within international law – the two-state solution, creating an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, living in peace and security alongside Israel. #Russia#Gaza#MiddleEast#TwoStateSolution#HumanRights#InternationalLaw

@RusEmbMalta Press release 🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with TASS news agency (December 30, 2024) Key points: #Ukraine#USA • We have not received any official signals [from the USA] regarding a settlement in Ukraine. • We are not happy with the proposals made by members of the Trump team to postpone Ukraine’s admission to NATO for 20 years and to station British and European peacekeeping forces in Ukraine. • What we need is reliable and legally binding agreements that would eliminate the root causes of the conflict and seal a mechanism precluding the possibility of their violation. #RussiaUSA#NATO • We are ready to renew the political dialogue which Washington terminated after the start of the special military operation, if the United States is ready for this. Since it was the Americans who cut it off, it is for them to make the first move. • They [the West] have been long relying on efforts to interfere in the domestic affairs of other countries, including our closest neighbours, as their foreign policy tool. For many years, Washington and its satellites have been acting this way in an effort to deter and contain their geopolitical rivals and do away with any unwanted actors, as confirmed by what happened in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Ukraine. #Georgia • The developments in Georgia stem from the double standards when caring for democracy and human rights serves as a pretext for overturning election results after even the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights with its tainted reputation recognised the election as being free and fair. Why do they want to change the results? Just because the puppet masters in Washington and Brussels did not find the way people voted there to their liking. • The United States and the European Union are trying to impose a distorted vision on Tbilisi which consists of dividing everyone into those who are with us and those who are against us. Meanwhile, it seems that Georgian authorities have opted for a sovereign policy which meets the country’s national interests. They refuse to act as pawns manipulated by the West in its effort to destabilise Georgia, undermine its economy and incite escalation in its relations with Russia. #Syria#MiddleEast • The Syrians’ hopes for improvements after a convincing defeat of international terrorism, including with the help of Russia’s Aerospace Forces, have not materialised. • Washington, which has effectively occupied the resource-rich north-eastern part of Syria and is putting serious sanctions pressure on Damascus together with a coalition of its satellites, bears a great deal of blame for this. This line for strangling the Syrian economy stirred up social discontent. • Trying to maintain its influence [in the Middle East and North Africa], Washington actively interfered in the internal affairs of Arab countries and aggressively drew new dividing lines there. Iraq and Libya are still trying to clear up the consequences of the Americans and their satellites’ reckless behaviour. #China • The Americans are taking inciting actions in the Taiwan Strait and supplying weapons to Taipei while forging a quasi-political dialogue with the local authorities. • It is clear to us that this policy pursued by Washington in violation of its obligations to Beijing on Taiwan is part of their strategy to step up military and political pressure on the PRC and eventually undermine regional security at the eastern end of the Eurasian continent. • Russia reaffirms its adherence to the #OneChina principle, recognises that Taiwan is an inalienable part of the People’s Republic of China, opposes any form of “Taiwan independence,” and firmly supports China’s measures to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity and achieve national reunification. 🎙 Concluding his working visit to the People's Republic of China, President Vladimir Putinanswered questions from Russian media (October 18, 2023) #RussiaChina 🇷🇺🇨🇳 Regarding the influence of external factors and conflicts on the development of Russian-Chinese relations, all these external factors amount to common threats, and they strengthen Russian-Chinese interaction. I am optimistic about specific prospects. In March, we reached certain agreements and set forth eight clauses. Right now, the prime ministers will have to clarify these clauses in Bishkek, and they will sign a plan for our interaction until 2030. This is a very good, specific and substantial plan. China's Belt and Road initiative is a global initiative and concerns practically every region of the world. What is called the Eurasian Partnership is a local-scale project. Without any doubt, one complements the other. #MiddleEast Regarding the impressions I got during conversations with the five regional leaders: I have an impression that no onewants this conflict to continue or expand, or the situation to escalate. we have always advocated the creation of a Palestinian state that would be independent, sovereign and with a capital in East Jerusalem. After all, as demonstrated by today’s crisis, there is no way you can use momentary economic handouts in the way attempted by the United States, in lieu of addressing fundamental political issues dealing with the future of the Palestinian nations. We need to address fundamental political issues. #Ukraine If the Ukrainian side really wants to negotiate, it should not make any theatrical gestures but instead start by cancelling the presidential executive order prohibiting talks [with Russia]. Practical steps must be taken if there is a real desire to hold negotiations. Read in full
