@RusEmbMalta Press Release Key Points from Minister Sergey Lavrov’s Full Responses to Corriere della Sera Moscow — 13 November 2025 The MFA has published the complete answers given by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Corriere della Sera, which refused to print the interview without cuts. 🔹Anchorage & Prospects for Peace Anchorage became a genuine step toward a just and lasting settlement. Russia accepted the US-proposed concept for negotiations based on security and territorial realities. Moscow is ready for a Putin–Trump summit in Budapest – if it proceeds from the Anchorage understandings. Assertions that “Russia is not ready for talks” are false and stem from Western media distortions. 🔹On the Special Military Operation Russia’s objective is to protect millions whose identity and language were curtailed by the Kiev authorities. Moscow seeks to prevent NATO from turning Ukraine into an anti-Russian military bridgehead. Russian forces strike only military targets, avoiding civilian casualties. 🔹On Losses Publishing detailed battlefield statistics is not customary. Russia transferred over 9,000 bodies of Ukrainian personnel this year, while receiving 143 of its own – “draw your own conclusions.” 🔹On Ukraine’s Future Status Russia insists on Ukraine’s neutral, non-aligned, non-nuclear status. Kiev must return to its constitutional obligations on the rights of Russian and other minorities. Europe’s silence about discrimination against “non-indigenous ethnicities” is described as evidence of revived Nazism. 🔹On Western Involvement European governments form a “coalition of the willing” prolonging the conflict to distract their voters from domestic crises. Whether weapons are American or European makes no difference: all are destroyed. 🔹On Relations with Europe The current confrontation was not Russia’s choice. Europe repeatedly followed destructive anti-Russian policies, often against its own interests. When the wave of “Russophobic obsession” fades, Russia will assess whether dialogue is possible. President Putin proposes a new Eurasian security architecture built on equality and non-interference. 🔹On China Russia–China cooperation is a modern, balanced partnership – not a Cold War-style alliance. Claims of Russian “dependence” are misplaced. 🔹On Italy Russia separates nations from governments. Italy’s rapid alignment with policies aimed at Russia’s “strategic defeat” damaged bilateral ties. Cultural cancellations and the rupture of people-to-people contacts contradict Italy’s traditions. If Rome chooses dialogue, Moscow is ready to listen. @RusEmbMalta Press Release 🇷🇺 Remarks by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the General Debate of the 80th UN General Assembly Session (New York, 27 September 2025) At the UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrovoutlined Russia’s principled vision for a fairer, multipolar world order. His address drew on history, international law, and today’s pressing challenges. Key Points: 🔹 UN Charter remains the cornerstone of international relations – its principles must be respected fully and without double standards. 🔹 ️ Sovereign equality of states is essential – no division into “friends” and “foes,” or privileges for the so-called “golden billion.” 🔹 Condemned illegal use of force: from NATO’s actions in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya to current crises in Palestine and the Middle East. 🔹Reaffirmed support for a two-state solution and warned against attempts to erase Palestine from the international agenda. 🔹 Denounced unlawful sanctions and “colour revolutions” as tools of coercion undermining sovereignty. 🔹🌍 Called for UN reform, including broader representation for Asia, Africa, and Latin America in the Security Council. 🔹🤝 Emphasised dialogue with the US on strategic stability and President Putin’s new initiative on arms control. 🔹🌐 Proposed a Eurasian Charter for Diversity and Multipolarity, as an inclusive alternative to bloc confrontation. 🔹⚠️Warned against revival of Nazism and militarisation in Europe, stressing the danger of talk about a “Third World War.” Sergey Lavrov concluded: only strict, universal adherence to the UN Charter can safeguard peace and honour the legacy of the UN’s founding fathers. 📄 Full text of the statement is available here. 🔗 Read also: Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to media questions at a news conference following the High-Level Week of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, New York, September 27, 2025 #RussiaAtUN#UNGA80#Lavrov#UNCharter

@RusEmbMalta Press release 🇷🇺President Vladimir Putin chaired a government meeting via videoconference 🗓 June 4, 2025 During the meeting, senior officials reported on the recent peace talks in Istanbul and key humanitarian initiatives. 🔹Presidential AideVladimir Medinsky reported that: • Negotiations with the Ukrainian side were held in Russian and lasted over three hours one-on-one, followed by talks with full delegations • Russia presented a draft peace memorandum, based on principles earlier outlined by President Putin – it includes terms for both a long-term settlement and a ceasefire • Kiev’s response centered on a 30–60 day unconditional ceasefire and preparations for a summit of state leaders • On humanitarian issues, Russia proposed: – A parity POW exchange (at least 1 200 per side), prioritizing the wounded, seriously ill, and those under 25 – A direct hotline for emergency transfer of severely wounded prisoners – Unilateral transfer to Kiev of over 6 000 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers, stored in refrigerated train cars – Local 2–3 day humanitarian pauses to recover the dead – initially accepted, but Vladimir Zelensky later publicly rejected the idea – Examination of a list of 339 allegedly abducted Ukrainian children. The Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights will verify each case. Earlier claims about “tens of thousands” appear to be propaganda 🔹Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed: • The Istanbul talks, in line with President Putin’s agreement with US President Donald Trump, have already yielded real outcomes • Dialogue remains essential for achieving humanitarian progress • Vladimir Zelensky’s rejection of short ceasefires – including on Easter and the 80th Victory anniversary – is a grave mistake • Lavrov also condemned the sabotage of railways in Bryansk and Kursk as terrorist attacks planned by Kiev’s leadership 🔹President Vladimir Putin stated: • These attacks targeted civilians and were timed to disrupt peace efforts • Kiev’s leadership is increasingly behaving like a terrorist organization, and its Western sponsors risk becoming accomplices • While Ukrainian officials now ask for a ceasefire and a summit, they simultaneously orchestrate attacks and refuse basic humanitarian steps • The President questioned the legitimacy and competence of the Kiev regime, calling it corrupt and indifferent to the lives of its own citizens • He reaffirmed that Russia remains open to negotiation – but will not reward terrorism with operational pauses used for rearmament and forced mobilization Conclusion Russia will continue diplomatic and humanitarian work in good faith. The current stalemate is the result of Kiev’s deliberate sabotage of peace efforts and refusal to cooperate on even the most basic humanitarian measures. #Putin#Russia#Lavrov#Medinsky#PeaceTalks#Istanbul#NoToTerrorism

@RusEmbMalta Press release. 🎙️Key points from the interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey #Lavrov for the media holding "New Regions of Russia" (March 10, 2025): 🔹 The past three years have been a "moment of truth," revealing the true face of the West and its disregard for even basic principles of international law. 🔹 Western elites continue to act with hegemonic and colonialist tendencies, leading to a global divide between the "Western minority" and the "world majority." 🔹 Russia considers it necessary to strengthen its own resources and foster cooperation with trusted allies. 🔹 The future of relations with the West depends on its willingness to acknowledge mistakes, including abandoning the strategy of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia. 🔹 Russia remains open to negotiations, but they must guarantee its national interests and eliminate threats from the Ukrainian and Western directions. 🔹 The 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War is a key event of the year, emphasizing the importance of historical memory and patriotic education for the younger generation. 🔹 Despite the West’s information warfare, Russia’s voice remains strong on the international stage, with the majority of countries supporting the fight against the revival of Nazism. 🔗Full interview. #ForeignPolicy#Russia#UkrainianCrisis#Victory80

@RusEmbMaltaPress release. 💬Key points from Russian Foreign Minister Sergey #Lavrov’s interview with Krasnaya Zvezda media holding (March 2, 2025). 🔹 The West continues to ignore Russia's interests, expanding NATO and strengthening military presence near Russia’s borders. 🔹 Ukraine is being used as a tool to contain Russia, with its political course dictated by the West. 🔹 Sanctions have not achieved their goals; Russia’s economy has adapted and strengthened cooperation with new partners. 🔹 The world is moving towards multipolarity: BRICS and the Global South are playing an increasingly significant role. 🔹 Russia remains open to negotiations, but only on the basis of equality and respect for national interests. 🔹 Western double standards and the militarization of Europe threaten global stability. 🔗Full interview. #UkraineCrisis#BRICS#MultipolarWorld

@RusEmbMalta Press release 🎙 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to media questions during a news conference on the outcomes of Russian diplomacy in 2024 (January 14, 2025) *** 💬 FM Sergey #Lavrov: We are living in a historical era of confrontation between those who uphold the fundamental principles of international law <...> which have been formulated, set out and put forth in the most important international document – the UN Charter – and those who are not satisfied with that document, who decided <...> that they could not live in accordance with the wishes of the “political West”, <...> those who oppose multipolarity. President of Russia Vladimir Putin has repeatedly explained the true root causes of the special military operation in Ukraine. We had to begin to repel an attack, a war waged against us by the collective West with the main goal of suppressing competition when Russia re-emerged as its strong rival on the international arena. Their main goal was to weaken our country geopolitically, creating direct military threats to us right on our borders, on Russia’s native territories, <...> in an attempt to slash our strategic potential and devalue it as much as possible. The second reason also has to do with the history of the region, only it was more about the people who have lived on that land for centuries. <...> These people were labelled ‘terrorists’ by the current Ukrainian regime, which came to power through a coup d'etat. And when they refused to accept it, that regime launched an all-out offensive against all things Russian. <...> There has been a revival in efforts to oppose the Western diktat, with emerging economies and new centres of financial power in China, India, ASEAN, the Arab world, and CELAC. This group also includes a resurgent Russia together with its allies from the EAEU, the CIS, and CSTO. This also includes the SCO and #BRICS. The United States does not want to have any competitors anywhere, starting with the energy sector. <...> The United States and its allies have placed sanctions policies at the core of what they do on the international stage, including regarding Russia. This demonstrates their refusal to engage in fair economic competition and their commitment to using unfair, aggressive practices for suppressing their opponents. *** #CollectiveWest The West is intoxicated by its perceived “greatness,” its impunity, and its self-endowed authority to dictate the destinies of peoples worldwide. This reflects arrogance and a disdainful attitude towards the rest of the world. It is yet another brazen assertion that when we speak of “democracy,” it signifies merely one thing – “we do as we please.” <...> It is sheer hypocrisy, dictatorial behaviour, disrespect for the populace. #UN UN Security Council reform is needed. Not all countries that bear special responsibility in the global economy, finance, politics, and military affairs are represented in the UN Security Council. It has been pointed out repeatedly that countries such as India and Brazil have long earned permanent Security Council membership on all counts, as has Africa. #RussiaChina Russia-China partnership is among the key factors in stabilising the international arena and the ongoing processes that are used, among other things, to escalate confrontation and hostility in international affairs, which is what our neighbours from NATO engage in under US guidance. #USA#Ukraine As soon as Donald Trump assumes the presidency and articulates his final stance on Ukrainian matters, we will examine it. <...> The increasing reference to the realities “on the ground” is a development likely to be welcomed. #RussiaSerbia Our relations with Serbia are grounded solely in the interests of the Serbian and Russian peoples, as well as our respective states. Our interests align on the vast majority of issues. These relations are rich with specific agreements and projects, including those in the energy sector, approved by our heads of state, governments, and companies. Read in full. #Outcomes2024

@RusEmbMalta Press release: 🎙️ Russian Foreign Minister Sergey #Lavrov's interview to the newspaper "Arguments and Facts" (October 21, 2024) Key points: 🔹BRICS epitomises the shifts that have long been underway in the global economy. New centres of economic growth are emerging, and alongside them comes financial influence, which in turn brings political influence. 🔹BRICS is a consortium where no single nation leads or is led, devoid of the bureaucratic machinery akin to that observed in Brussels, where EU officials impose decisions that contravene the will and interests of several member states. 🔹 Nations such as India, Brazil, and African representatives should have long held permanent seats on the Security Council. This is essential to ensure representation of the World Majority. 🔹 We suggest discussing the Eurasian continent-wide security architecture, emphasising the fact that its doors will be open to everyone.
