The International Tchaikovsky Competition is dubbed the Olympic Games of music, held every four years in Moscow. It’s open to pianists, violinists and cellists from 16 to 30. If a musician is chosen to compete, they can’t let their chance slip by. Victory in the Tchaikovsky Competition paves the way for the winner’s flourishing international career. We recommend you check out Battle of the Keys to celebrate the 182nd anniversary of the birth of the great Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. He composed many of the world’s best known and loved musical scores, including the Nutcracker Suite and Swan Lake. Although we know that some in the West are ready to cancel even Tchaikovsky …. 🤦 More about Russian art and culture coming under attack for simply being Russian in the documentary, Killing Russian Culture. #video#Russia Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

On May 6, Syria celebrates the day of the martyrs. In 1916, those who fought for the country’s independence were executed. But their fight has been going on for a hundred years. In 2017 the country was in the middle of a war. More than ten years of war in Syria caused over 600,000 deaths. Thousands of children lost their parents. As a young boy, Leith saw his family gunned down. We filmed him with his grandmother five years after the trauma. Watch how they were getting by in the video. The full story of Leith is in our documentary Syria: The Story of One Tragedy. #video#Syria Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

On May 5 2015, a memorial was unveiled in Donetsk to commemorate the children killed by the Ukrainian shelling of Donbass. There are 66 names inscribed on the plaque; the youngest was only a year old. Since then, the list has multiplied. According to the UN, 152 children had died in Donbass by April 2021. In the film Donbass: The Grey Zone, which we made in early 2022, a captured Ukrainian soldier is brought to the memorial. He is shown a list of killed children. We are posting this clip today. As well as an excerpt from the documentary Donbass: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow. The monument and the place next to it in Donetsk is called the Alley of Angels. The slab is littered with children’s toys. Above it, there is a wrought iron arch twined with metal roses. And a bell made of a large-calibre shell casing. Then, two years after the monument was erected, a sculpture appeared next to it - a boy covering his little sister and looking up into the sky. #video#Ukraine Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

Photos of children hiding in a basement in Kharkiv have turned out to be taken in Donetsk in 2014. Russian journalists found the place where the pictures were taken eight years ago. It’s a bomb shelter in the Chelyuskintsev mine where up to 200 people hid from Ukrainian shelling, most of them children. The pictures have been on the internet since then, as can be seen in the video. We have a film Ukraine's Fake Factory. Watch it to see how fake news is created to misinform about the conflict. #video#Ukraine Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari says the armed gangs that kidnapped passengers on a train in Kaduna used them as human shields. The governor of Kaduna state suggests the attack could be the result of a partnership between Boko Haram and other Nigerian kidnap gangs. At the end of April, one of the abducted women gave birth in captivity. According to the Nigerian Railway Corporation, more than 150 people are still missing. Armed gangs have been terrorising Nigeria for years. Boko Haram is one of the world’s deadliest terrorist groups. Some Nigerians can’t stand aside while kidnapping, rapes, and killings happen. For example, Aisha leads a vigilante group that helps government forces fight terrorists. She’s called the ‘queen’ of Boko Haram hunters. Watch our clip and the documentary Hunting Boko Haram about fighting terrorism in Nigeria. #video#Nigeria Follow: https://t.me/rtdocumentary
