📄 The Russian Foreign Ministry has compiled and issued a report on the indigenous peoples rights situation in certain countries, focusing on the analysis of the situation with native population of the six member-states of the Arctic Council — Denmark, Canada, Norway, US, Finland, and Sweden, as well as in Australia, NewZealand and Japan. 👉Read the report in full The US, Canada, and their allies have recently been stepping up their activities at international platforms, in regional formats, and the media, trying to shift the focus from the vital problems of indigenous peoples in North America and the Western countries of the Arctic Region, as well as in Australia, New Zealand and Japan to the so-called “violations of indigenous peoples’ rights” in Russia and in a number of major developing countries. ❗️At the same time, practically all the above-mentioned countries have pursued, in one way or another, assimilation and discriminatory policy towards their aboriginal populations, which has created numerous socio-political and cultural problems. Nowadays, many countries develop mechanisms for coordination and cooperation with indigenous peoples. There are common problems that indigenous peoples in various countries are confronted with: • a gradual erosion of their traditional way of life as a result of earlier assimilation policies; • violation of the indigenous peoples’ rights to lands of traditional inhabitance and natural resources; • decay of the natural environment due to industrial development and certain countries’ overseas military activities; • high unemployment and indigenous communities’ dependence on government subsidies. The worst affected by these negative phenomena are the countries in the Arctic Region, where the above-mentioned problems are still relevant. As a result, there is a need for solutions, including those suggested by the international community, and this is the reason why these problems are covered in this separate report. 🇷🇺🇧🇾 This agenda was included in the first joint report on the human rights situation in certain countries, produced by the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Belarus, published in June 2024. The Russian Foreign Ministry’s annual reports on human rights issues also systematically address these subjects, including those related to the glorification of Nazism, the spread of neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance (the latest issue of that report was published in September, 2024).

#BRICS2024 🇷🇺🇮🇳 President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi held talks on the sidelines of the XVI BRICS Summit (October 22, 2024): 💬 President Vladimir Putin: Mr Prime Minister, friends, I am delighted to welcome you to Russia, this time to Kazan, a magnificent historical city on the Volga. I warmly remember your visit to Moscow and our fruitful talks back in July. We regularly speak on the telephone. I am grateful that you accepted our invitation and came to the #BRICS Summit in Kazan in person. Today we will take part in the opening ceremony of the summit. Later, there will be a dinner for the leaders, and then we will begin our work. Here in Kazan, we are to make a number of important decisions to enhance the efficiency of efforts made by BRICS and to strengthen multilateral cooperation within the group. We value our cooperation on this track, considering that our nations were instrumental in founding BRICS. 🤝 Russian-Indian relations are characterised by a special privileged strategic partnership and continue to develop actively. Interaction between legislative bodies is strengthening, and our foreign ministers are in constant contact. 📈 Trade is also in good shape. The next meeting of the intergovernmental commission is scheduled for November 12 in New Delhi. Large projects are consistently developing, and we welcome your decision to open a Consulate General of India in Kazan. Expanding India’s diplomatic presence in Russia will contribute to the further development of bilateral relations. Mr Prime Minister, we are very glad to see you and your entire representative team in Russia. #RussiaIndia#DruzhbaDosti

@RusEmbMalta Press release: 🎙️ Russian Foreign Minister Sergey #Lavrov's interview to the newspaper "Arguments and Facts" (October 21, 2024) Key points: 🔹BRICS epitomises the shifts that have long been underway in the global economy. New centres of economic growth are emerging, and alongside them comes financial influence, which in turn brings political influence. 🔹BRICS is a consortium where no single nation leads or is led, devoid of the bureaucratic machinery akin to that observed in Brussels, where EU officials impose decisions that contravene the will and interests of several member states. 🔹 Nations such as India, Brazil, and African representatives should have long held permanent seats on the Security Council. This is essential to ensure representation of the World Majority. 🔹 We suggest discussing the Eurasian continent-wide security architecture, emphasising the fact that its doors will be open to everyone. @RusEmbMalta Press release: Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov took part in the ambassadorial roundtable titled "The Ukrainian crisis. Terrorist methods of the #Kiev regime" (Moscow, September 12, 2024) In his remarks he noted that Kiev regime does not even try to hide its terrorist nature with the connivance and direct support of Western patrons. Having suffered a fiasco in attempts to defeat our country on the battlefield, Kiev focused on criminal attacks on civilian targets, vainly trying to cause maximum public resonance, destabilize the work of Russian government bodies, and sow panic among citizens. Numerous facts of terrorist attacks were mentioned, including those against the nuclear power plants, Kiev's role in organizing the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall, as well as on the crimes of Ukrainian neo-Nazis in the Kursk region. The event featured a report by the Russian Foreign Ministry “Terrorist Crimes Committed by the Kiev Regime”. The Minister also touched on other topics. Read in full here.
